Turning Brawl Stars into a Board Game
The Brawl Stars team asked us to create a remote gaming experience for their dedicated community of YouTube fans. We made them a board game and called it Race to Gem Mountain.
Over the course of this project, our team developed 4-week remote board game tournament complete with a board game, physical challenge cards, customized props, video and social promotion assets, and then – surprise bonus! – a board game extension and microsite for the community.

BOARD DEVELOPMENT
We started the board design process by auditioning various path shapes, considering space limitations, aesthetic balance, and game environments.
HIGH FIDELITY BOARD DEVELOPMENT
After initial prototypes for the board layout, we onboarded the talented team at Bubba’s LA to develop the artwork. Throughout the process, I provided stylistic direction and game references, working with our internal team and our client to articulate the artwork creative, incorporate specific Brawl Stars IP, and match the board game to the brand’s aesthetic.
From the look and feel of the gem mountain, to the number of barrels in the water, I had an eye on every piece of the board artwork from start to finish.
